My story
My path is completely atypical, I have always loved drawing and painting since my childhood, and I have always been encouraged by my teachers (drawing and others) or guidance counselors towards this path.
I was led to make the choice to create my building painting business at a very young age. I might as well tell you that preparations and large surfaces do not scare me, and I do not denigrate this profession of building painter. which is much more complete and technical than one imagines. A few white walls to prepare do not put me off, and they give me peace of mind, because creating painted decorations, “frescoes”, requires a lot of concentration.
At the same time, I continued to study drawing and painting in different fine arts workshops in Paris, as well as modeling classes. .
The fusion between large walls, large surfaces, on which I was used to working on one side, and artistic painting on the other side, became obvious to me; that is to say, creating large artistic paintings, panoramic painted decorations, in the common language of “frescoes” (although the real fresco is created on fresh plaster).
This is how I created my first fresco, in a plush hotel in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
The mind is at least as important as the gesture.
I compare the creation of a fresco to a melody, where the silences are very important, and we can make multiple comparisons: the general harmony (the general vision of the work), the transitions (between the colors ), passages, silences (in painting too, you need gaps), blacks and whites which can correspond to more or less strong tones in the decor.
I have sometimes removed elements from a setting that disrupted concentration and emotion.
The viewer will be touched as much by an atmosphere as by the technical quality of the details.
The fresco artist must above all put an intention into it, and not just a graphic quality ”
